There are albums that simply arrive, quietly confident, fully formed, and entirely their own thing. ‘In Spirit’, the third album from Lana Crow, released 5th April 2026, is very much of this ilk.
Just over twenty-one minutes from start to end, of a concise, purposeful collection of eclectic yet perfectly matched musicianship.
Lana’s vocals are the constant, crystal clear, perfectly balanced, and equally at home drifting through the ethereal cinematic softness of ‘I Do’ (an alt-pop gem that will be soundtracking first dances for years to come) as they are cutting through the heavier guitar textures of ‘Orwellian Times’, a layered and brilliantly realised reflection on power, human weakness, and the chilling question it leaves hanging in the air: ‘who is ruling us?’
There are hints of The Cocteau Twins in the dreamier moments, echoes of Lana Del Rey in the heavier melodic passages of ‘Unknown The Known’, and the occasional flash of Björk’s restless experimentation, but remains pure Lana Crow.
‘No Secret’ is a breezy, synth-pop drive-time companion, contracting with ‘So Done’, capturing the frustrations of modern life with a sharp, door-closing finality that’s immensely satisfying. ‘What Brings You Back’ asks the big existential questions before offering quiet reassurance, its final line ‘Always Here Within’ open to as many interpretations as you care to bring to it.
The title track closes things out with upbeat electro-pop warmth and the feel of a celebration that doesn’t quite tip over into excess, like a tide that never quite reaches its peak, but doesn’t need to.
‘In Spirit’ is eclectic, emotionally intelligent, and entirely worth your time.
