WIKIMAN Exclusive Artist Interview

Some artists write songs, some collect stories; absorbing the unspoken experiences of the people around them and transforming them into something to feel.

WIKIMAN, independent artist, composer, and producer from Guayaquil, Ecuador, is very much the latter. His new album ‘SENTIR‘, translating simply as ‘to feel’, is a bold, passionate, and deeply human body of work that wraps real-life stories of love, regret, and healing in a fresh commercial pop energy.

I caught up with WIKIMAN to talk about the concept behind the album, his creative process, and why he believes that feeling things is the bravest thing any of us can do right now.

WIKIMAN, welcome! For our readers who are discovering you for the first time, can you tell us a little about who you are, where you’re from, and how you would describe your music?

I am an independent artist, composer, and producer from Guayaquil, Ecuador. My music is a narrative journey through real-life stories and deep experiences, focused on the healing process through romantic pop and ballads.

How does it feel to be doing this interview in English (for which I am most grateful!), and how important is it to you to connect with audiences beyond the Spanish-speaking world?

It feels like an incredible opportunity. Connecting with a global audience is vital to me because the emotions I sing about — regret, love, and healing — are universal experiences that transcend any language barrier.

What does ‘SENTIR’ mean to you personally, and why did that word feel like the right one to anchor this whole album around?

To me, SENTIR (to feel) is the bravest action we can take today. I chose this title because the album serves as a reminder that expressing what we usually keep silent is a fundamental part of healing and evolving as human beings.

Where did the concept for ‘SENTIR’ begin? Was there a specific moment or experience?

It began with my role as a “collector of realities”. It wasn’t a single moment, but the sum of many silent stories I observe daily; I felt they needed to be transformed into songs so others could find comfort in them.

The album has a mix of upbeat love songs and commercial pop energy. Was that the sound you set out to create from the start?

Yes, I wanted a sound that was both “catchy” and modern. My vision was to wrap these deep stories in a pop energy that grabs the listener, allowing the message to arrive in a fresh and vibrant way.

Did you have a clear vision of what the album needed to be before you started, or did you discover it as you made it?

I knew this album had to consolidate my artistic identity. After my 2025 releases, I was clear that SENTIR needed to be a cohesive work showing my maturity in narrating real-life cases

How do you sustain that level of creativity and output without losing quality and passion?

I use technology as a precision engine, employing intelligent signal processing and algorithmic mastering tools. While this technology is a fundamental part of achieving high-fidelity standards, nothing is left on automatic: every frequency and pitch adjustment is manually supervised and calibrated to ensure the original passion remains intact.

How does ‘SENTIR’ fit into your wider journey as an artist? Does it feel like a new chapter?

It is definitely a new chapter. It represents a stage where technical production and the depth of the message are in total harmony, preparing me to take my music from Guayaquil to international markets.

Do you write and produce everything yourself? Tell us about how a WIKIMAN track typically comes together.

Everything starts with an idea or story that I write myself. We generate instrumental layers using cutting-edge technology, but that is only the raw material: we then enter a stage of manual editing and correction where I adjust the pitch, timing, and mix of every instrument to fit my voice perfectly. This human supervision is a fundamental part of my process; it ensures that while technology helps shape the sonic structure, the identity and interpretation of the song remain 100% authentic and directed by me.

Do you collaborate with other artists, or do you prefer to keep your creative process largely your own?

I prefer to keep the creative core under my direction to avoid losing the essence of the story. However, I believe in organic collaborations with people who truly feel the emotional fiber of the song.

There are female voices on the album. Can you tell us who they are and what they brought to the project?

I had the support of Yesterlyth Arriaga Avilés and Liz Manzo Avilés, who are a fundamental part of this album’s sonic identity. Their voices provided the warmth and strength needed in the harmonies to make every story feel complete and human.

Passion feels like the heartbeat of this album. Where does that passion come from for you?

It comes from a very real place; it’s not something you can fake. The passion is born from knowing that my lyrics about family regret or silent loves can help someone else heal their own wounds.

Were there any tracks on ‘SENTIR’ that were particularly personal or difficult to make?

The tracks dealing with regret toward parents were a challenge. Narrating the story of a son recognizing his mistakes requires a high level of emotional honesty during the recording to make the listener believe every word.

Is there one track on the album that best represents who WIKIMAN is as an artist right now?

“Amor en silencio” best defines me currently. It starts with a very sincere acoustic guitar and evolves into a catchy pop rhythm, perfectly capturing the balance between intimate emotion and the modern energy of the album.

The album closes on a noticeably more reflective, melancholic note. Was that a deliberate choice?

Absolutely. I wanted the listener to end this journey in a state of introspection. That melancholic closing is a fundamental part of processing the stories heard and leaving a final seed of reflection.

Did you want the listener to experience ‘SENTIR’ as a complete journey, or can they dip in and out?

It is designed as a complete journey. Although each track stands on its own, listening from start to finish allows you to experience the full narrative arc of those feelings finally coming to light.

And finally, what’s next for WIKIMAN? What are you hoping this album opens up for you?

My priority is to continue connecting authentically with my audience, which is why we are already developing a new musical album that I am certain they will love. Creating new music is a fundamental part of my journey; I hope SENTIR acts as a bridge to major international stages in Mexico and Canada, while I also continue my professional and academic growth to reach new milestones this year.

‘SENTIR’ is available now on Spotify.
And you can find WIKIMAN on Spotify, Instagram, YouTube, and Facebook.
And my thanks again to WIKIMAN for helping me out with the interview in English, rather than my absolutely non-existent Spanish (apart from the obvious tourist pigeon phrases). Truly much appreciated.
