Review of 'There's Nothing Above Music and Love' by Earth-O-Naut

There’s a moment, barely three seconds in, where Earth-O-Naut’s new single There’s Nothing Above Music and Love makes its intentions very clear. A drum run-down from the formidable Steve White (ex Style Council, The Family Silver) locks tightly with bright, soaring brass, opening the door and inviting you straight onto the street. From there, it’s pure carnival.

Released via German label Agogo Records, this first collaborative outing feels sun-soaked and communal, celebrating two of life’s most sustaining forces with vibrant colour, rhythm and soul. Funk and samba collide effortlessly, with cowbell pulses tempting you closer to movement during the opening and chorus, making stillness impossible.

The track builds with playful agility, brass lines whipping the energy into a joyful frenzy before dropping back to allow Earth-O-Naut’s smooth, persuasive vocal to take centre stage. His message is simple, open-hearted and disarmingly honest; get out of your head, trust your senses, do what feels good.

The chorus nestles instantly, an earworm powered as much by warmth as melody.

Vocally, echoed moments from Amalia Estrada’s backing add depth to the sound and deliver a near-gospel affirmation during the break, turning the song into something truly collective rather than performative. No one’s excluded here. It feels like an open

invitation to the universal church of music and love.

In a world weighed down by noise, greed and relentless

information, ‘There’s Nothing Above Music and Love’ offers a joyous release valve. High-energy, free-spirited and unapologetically uplifting, it’s impossible not to at least chair-wiggle along. An invitation to rise above the everyday static that reminds us of what it is that connects us.

By the time the track fades, you can already hear the claps and whoops of a (hopefully not too far in the) future crowd, and you’ll probably hit repeat, just to keep the party going a little longer.

One thing about this track feels certain, this is a song built to be lived from the inside, not just listened to.
